Nuisance Wildlife in Winter

Winter

Influences to Animal Behavior

Rats and mice stay active year round. They need warm places close to food sources. Your house provides both.

Raccoons, squirrel preparing for cold weather. During the coldest months (Jan-Feb) animal activity is almost nonexistent. Most mammals enter a state of torpor.

Depending on the species, bats will either migrate or hibernate. IF you have hibernating bats, do not disturb them. Bats in Canada are insectivores. If they are roused from hibernation, they will fly out and look for food. But there are no bugs to eat. They could starve.
